Set Up an SSL Certificate for Hosting Packages

Learn how to set up an SSL Starter, GeoTrust QuickSSL Premium (SSL Starter), or GeoTrust QuickSSL Wildcard (SSL Starter Plus) Certificate for your package to secure the information exchanged through your website.

An SSL Starter or GeoTrust QuickSSL Premium (SSL Starter) certificate is valid for only one domain or subdomain. If you want to protect multiple domains with an SSL certificate, you will need to buy an SSL certificate for each individual domain.

A GeoTrust QuickSSL Wildcard (SSL Starter Plus) certificate differs from an SSL Starter or GeoTrust QuickSSL Premium (SSL Starter) certificate in that it also encrypts all information exchanged through an unlimited number of subdomains as well as the domain itself.

Step 1
Log in to your 1&1 Control Panel and select the relevant package.
Step 2
Click the Manage SSL Certificates link from the Domains panel.
Click SSL Certificate for encryption
Domains > Manage SSL Certificates

Step 3

Step 4
Select the domain or subdomain you want use the certificate for from the drop-down menu.
Please note:
SSL Starter and GeoTrust QuickSSL Premium (SSL Starter) certificates are more commonly used with domains, not subdomains. The SSL Starter certificate will only be valid for the domain or subdomain you choose. If you choose a subdomain such as subdomain.domain.com, the SSL Starter certificate will only be able to secure connections for this subdomain and will not provide a secure connection for domain.com or www.domain.com.

You must check the box agreeing to the terms of use and then you may click the Set Up SSL Certificate button.
