Connect to 1&1 Cloud Server Using SSH

For 1&1 Cloud Servers with Linux operating systems

This article shows you how to establish an SSH connection to your 1&1 Cloud Server using the SSH client PuTTY.

Step 1
Log in to your 1&1 Control Panel and select the relevant package.

Click 1&1 Cloud Panel in the Cloud section of the 1&1 Control Panel.

Click on the server to which you would like to connect.

Take note of the Host and User, and if necessary, click Show Password to also copy the password.

Next, open PuTTy and enter your Host Name (or IP address) in the appropriate field at the top. Make sure SSH is selected as the Connection Type and click Open.

First, enter your User name and press Enter. By default, your user name will be root.

Next, enter the Password and press Enter. When entering your password, no characters or asterisks will appear.

You will then be connected to your server.
