Connect to 1&1 Cloud Server Using SSH

For 1&1 Cloud Servers with Linux operating systems

Linux servers are often accessed through a terminal such as PuTTY.

Learn how to connect to your 1&1 Cloud Server using the SSH client, PuTTY.

Step 1
Log in to your 1&1 Control Panel and select the relevant package.
Step 2
Select Server Access Data from the 1&1 Servers section of the 1&1 Control Panel. scr_connect_Cloud_SSH_01.png

Take note of the password, IP address and the username, you will need this data to set up your connection. scr_connect_Cloud_SSH_02.png

First, download PuTTY to your computer and then launch the program.
Step 5
Enter your IP address into the Host Name text box. You also have the option of using your domain name that points to your server as the host name.

Select SSH as the Connection type under the text box.

Enter your SSH user name into the Auto-login username text box. Your user name will be root. scr_connect_Cloud_SSH_04.png

In the text box below Saved Sessions, enter a name for this configuration. It is recommended to use the domain name.

Click the Save button to save your configuration as this name. scr_connect_Cloud_SSH_06.png

The configuration will be saved using the name chosen and you should now see this name in the list of Saved Sessions. In the future when you open PuTTY, you can simply click this name and click the Load button to load this configuration and then click the Open button to connect.
