Find the Full Path (Folder Structure) to Your Webspace

Learn information about finding the complete path to your webspace to use in your scripting.

Sometimes it is necessary to know the full path to your webspace for use in your scripts. There are a few different ways to do this depending on your package. It's important to know the full path to your Webspace because you will want to make note of where your web files are located on your server.

Step 1
Log in to your 1&1 Control Panel and select the relevant package.

Click the arrow icon next to the domain in question to display the domain settings menu. Domain Overview page

Click the Edit Destination link to proceed. Domain Settings Menu

The full path to your Webspace is located under the Webspace section of the Domain Destination Menu. Domain Destination Menu

For Linux packages, you can also log in via SSH and run the pwd command. This command will output the folder structure down to the current folder. Be sure to cd (change directories) to the folder you want before running this command.

For Microsoft packages, you can also use the the Server.MapPath() function for your ASP and .NET scripts. Running the Server.MapPath function without any parameters will output the full path to the folder where the script is saved. You can also specify a parameter for the function such as savePath = Server.MapPath("uploads") which will output the full folder structure to the folder named uploads contained in the same folder where the script is saved.
