Set Up a Glue Record

Follow the steps below to create a glue record for your subdomain, pointing your subdomain to the name server IP address.

If you are unfamiliar with glue records, please read our Explanation of Glue Records article before you begin.

Log in to your 1&1 Control Panel and select the relevant package.

Click Domains in the left side menu.

Click the Actions icon next to the desired domain and select Manage Subdomains.

On the right side of the screen in the Create Subdomain box, click Add subdomain.

Enter a subdomain that starts with "ns" such as ns1, ns2, etc. in the corresponding text box. Then click Save.

You must have at least two name server addresses. Repeat this process to create another subdomain that starts with "ns" such as ns2.

To set an IP address for the first name server, click the Actions icon next to it and select DNS Settings.

Scroll down to the A/AAAA and CNAME Records section, select Other IP address, and enter the necessary IPv4 and/or IPv6 value. A/AAAA and CNAME Records section

Scroll down and click Save, and then click Yes to confirm the change.
Step 10
Repeat Steps 7 and 8 to apply an IP address to the second name server.

The glue record will be applied to the subdomain since it starts with "ns". However, since the glue record is a DNS record, it may take 24-48 hours until it is fully updated and recognized by all servers on the Internet.
