Change File/Folder Permissions Using WebspaceExplorer

Follow the steps below to edit permissions for your files and folders contained within WebspaceExplorer.

WebspaceExplorer allows you to change permissions on files in your webspace so that that they can not be read or written to by anyone who is not supposed to or so that you can allow a file to display properly in the browser. WebspaceExplorer is only offered for Linux web hosting packages. If you have a Windows web hosting package, please use WebFiles instead.

Step 1
Log in to the 1&1 Control Panel using your Customer ID OR domain name and your password.

If you have only one package, you will land on the Administration page. If you have more than one package, select the package in question to reach its Administration page.

Step 2
From the Domains & Webspace section, click on the WebspaceExplorer link. Click WebspaceExplorer

Step 3
Select the file or folder that needs its permissions changed and then click Edit Change permissions. CSelect Edit > Change permissions

Here you can set permissions for your User, your Group, and Other users. You can either click the plus or minus icons to toggle permissions or enter the octal representation.

When you are finished, click the OK button. Click OK
