FTP Software Connection Credentials

For Hosting and Managed Server packages

Learn how to find your FTP user name and set a new password in order to connect and transfer files to and from your webspace.

Please note:
FTP access is not intended to upload content to websites created with the 1&1 App Center, 1&1 Website Builder, a 1&1 MyWebsite package, or any other website-building tool or package, as they have their own file management methods.

You will need the information below in order to connect with your FTP software.

Step 1
Log in to your 1&1 Control Panel and select the relevant package.
Step 2
Click the Secure FTP Account link from the Hosting panel.
Click FTP Account
Click Secure FTP Account

Step 3
You will see your username, description and destination directory of the FTP account here.

For security reasons, the password is not be displayed in the Control Panel. If you do not remember your password, it will have to be reset by following the next steps.

Step 4
If you have lost or forgotten your password, you will have to reset it. To do so, click the edit icon and then the edit button next to the account in question. FTP user overview page

Click the password box to set a new password. You may optionally enter a description of the FTP account such as "main FTP account" for your reference. Please take note of the password change as the current password will not be shown via the Control Panel in the future.

When you are finished, click the OK button.
