Connect to Your Webspace via FTP Using Cyberduck

For Hosting and Managed Server packages

Follow the steps below to connect to your webspace via SFTP, FTPS, or (insecure) FTP.

Cyberduck is a free FTP program (also called an FTP client) that allows you to upload, download and change permissions of files you keep in the webspace of your 1&1 package. FTP transfers are inherently insecure since it transmits your password in plain text. 1&1 offers and recommends secure FTP transfers using SFTP (for Linux hosting) and FTPS (for Windows hosting) which Cyberduck supports.

Step 1
You will need to download Cyberduck before you can continue with the remaining steps. Cyberduck is completely free and works on Windows and Macintosh operating systems.
Step 2
Launch the Cyberduck program, either from the Start Menu, Finder, your desktop, or however you normally launch programs. Once the program is open, click the Open Connection button. connect_ftp_cyberduck_01.png
