Connect to Your Webspace via FTP Using Core FTP

For Hosting and 1&1 Managed Server packages.

Use the steps below to connect to your shared hosting webspace (or storage space) via SFTP, FTPS, or FTP(insecure). The reference images provided reflect Core FTP LE on a Windows operating system.

Before you begin, you will need to download and install Core FTP LE. Core FTP LE is the free version of Core FTP and works on Windows only. The installation instructions are not covered in this article.

Step 1
Launch Core FTP from your Windows Desktop or Start menu. Once the program is open, click Sites > Site Manager. Select Sites > Site Manager

Step 2
We will save the FTP information in Core FTP for your website so that you do not have to enter all the FTP info every time you want to connect. Click the New Site button. Click New Site

Step 3
Enter the required FTP information. If you need help finding your FTP username or need to reset your FTP password, please reference FTP Software Connection Credentials Use the images below as reference depending on your package.

SFTP for Linux Packages

Host/IP/URL Your domain name
User FTP username from 1&1 Control Panel
Password FTP password set in 1amp;1 Control Panel
Port 22
Connection SSH/SFTP
Enter the appropriate information and click Connect
Enter the appropriate information and click Connect

FTPS for Windows Packages

Host/IP/URL Your domain name
User FTP username from 1&1 Control Panel
Password FTP password set in 1amp;1 Control Panel
Port 990
Connection FTPS (SSL DIRECT)
Enter the appropriate information and click Connect
Enter the appropriate information and click Connect

FTP for any package (insecure)

Host/IP/URL Your domain name
User FTP username from 1&1 Control Panel
Password FTP password set in 1amp;1 Control Panel
Port 21
Connection FTP
Please note:
It is not possible to connect using IPv6. Please use the server name provided in the Secure FTP section of the 1&1 Control Panel.
Enter the appropriate information and click Connect
Enter the appropriate information and click Connect

You should now be able to connect and begin transferring files. To upload, select files from the left-hand side of the windows and dragg them to the right-hand side of the menu. Let go of your mouse button to "drop" the files on the right-hand side to upload them.
