Import Data into Your MySQL Database Using phpMyAdmin

Follow the steps below to use phpMyAdmin to import data into your MySQL database.

Step 1
Log in to the 1&1 Control Panel using your Customer ID OR domain name and your password.

If you have only one package, you will land on the Administration page. If you have more than one package, select the package in question to reach its Administration page.

Click the MySQL link from the Hosting panel.
Click MySQL
Click MySQL

Click the phpMyAdmin button for the database which will hold the imported data. This database should be completely empty to accept the import.

If you have not already done so, you may need to Create a MySQL Database so that you have an empty database in which to import your data.

This will launch a new window where the phpMyAdmin for your database has been setup. At the top left, click on the SQL icon (this will also open in a new window). Click the SQL icon

Click on the Import files tab. Click Import files

Click the Browse... button to browser your computer for the file to import. Please take note of the maximum file size for the import file to the right of the Browse... button. Click Browse

Locate the SQL file on your computer that you would like to import and then click the Open button. Click Open

As long as the file does not exceed the maximum file size limit, you may now click the Go button to import the database. If you are unsure of the file size, phpMyAdmin will report an error if the file is too large. Click Go

If your datatbase file can not be imported via phpMyAdmin because of a large file size, you may import the database file via SSH if your package comes with SSH access.
