Import Your MySQL Database Using phpMyAdmin

Learn how to use the phpMyAdmin web interface to import data into your MySQL database.

Step 1
Log in to your 1&1 Control Panel and select the relevant package.

Click the MySQL Database link in the My Products section of the left side menu.

Click the Open link in the phpMyAdmin column.

If you have not already done so, you may need to Create a MySQL Database so that you have an empty database in which to import your data.

Click the database receiving the import on the left side menu. Then, click the Import button.

Click the Browse button to select the database you would like to import from your computer.

Next, set any options you would like for the import process. The default setting for Character set of the file is UTF-8.

Also, the Format must match that of your data file. The default is SQL.

Click Go when you are ready to begin importing.

Please note:
Check the Max file size value against your import file. If your import file is larger than the maximum file size stated on the page, the import will fail. Please Import Your MySQL Database Using SSH instead. There are no file size limitations when importing using SSH.

Your database should now begin the import process.

If your database file cannot be imported via phpMyAdmin because of a large file size, you may import the database file via SSH if your package comes with SSH access.
