Backup a MySQL Database Using phpMyAdmin

For webhosting packages.

Follow the steps below to backup a MySQL database from your Linux Hosting package by using the phpMyAdmin web interface to export the data to a file.

Step 1
Log in to the 1&1 Control Panel using your Customer ID OR domain name and your password.

If you have only one package, you will land on the Administration page. If you have more than one package, select the package in question to reach its Administration page.

Click the MySQL link from the Hosting panel.

Click the phpMyAdmin button for the database in question. Click phpMyAdmin

Click the Dabase Name at the Top Left of the phpMyAdmin window. Click the Database Name

Toward the Top Right of the page, click on the Export tab. Click the Export tab

On the right-hand frame of the page, click the Select All link to export all tables in the database (Unless you only wish to export specific tables however this is usually the exception). Please also select the SQL export option to export the database in SQL format. Click Select All and select the SQL export option

Select any SQL options you require. If you are unsure, it is best to leave these options as the default selection.

At the bottom, click the checkbox for Save as file and type a file name in the text box. In this example, the file name is 1and1help.com-Apr.4th.2010

Compression is left best at None if unsure. Then Click the Go button.

Your browser should display a pop-up window prompting you to save or open the file. Please select Save and select a location to save the file on your local computer. Save the file to your computer
