Configure Your Domain for Microsoft Office 365

For customers who use the Microsoft Office 365/Exchange Online service

Learn how to configure Microsoft Office 365 as the mail server (MX) for your domain.

Step 1
Log in to your Microsoft Office 365 account.

Click Settings followed by Domains.

Click Add Domain.

Enter the domain you are setting up and click Next.

Copy the TXT value.

Log in to your 1&1 Control Panel and select the relevant package.

Click Domain Center from the Domains panel.

Click the arrow next to your domain followed by Edit DNS Settings.

Scroll down to the TXT and SRV Records section and click Add Record.

Paste the TXT value into the Value field and click Add.

Click Save followed by Yes to confirm the changes.

Return to the Office 365 Administration screen and click Verify.

Choose I'll manage my own DNS records and click Next.

Copy the Expected record in the MX records section.

Repeat Step 8 to Edit DNS Settings of your domain.

In the MX Records section, choose Other mail server, paste the MX record into the MX 1 field, type 0 in the Priority field, and click Save followed by Yes to confirm the changes.

Click the arrow next to your domain followed by Create subdomain.

Type autodiscover and click Create subdomain.

Repeat Steps 17 and 18 to create the following subdomains:
  • sip
  • lyncdiscover
  • msoid
  • enterpriseregistration
  • enterpriseenrollment

Click Manage Subdomains.

Click the arrow next to your autodiscover subdomain, then click Edit DNS Settings.

In the A/AAAA and CNAME Records section, choose CNAME, type autodiscover.outlook.com as the alias, check I am aware and accept that all current DNS settings, e-mail addresses and redirects will be disabled, and click Save.

Repeat steps 21 and 22 to add the following CNAME records to the corresponding subdomains:

Click the Domains tab on the top-left part of the screen, click the arrow next to your domain, and then click Edit DNS Settings.

Scroll down to the TXT and SRV Records section and click Add Record.

Copy v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com -all and paste it into the Value field. Then, click Add.

Click Add Record.

Change the record type to SRV, add the following information, and click Add.

Click Add Record, change the record type to SRV, and add the following information before clicking Add.

Click Save followed by Yes to confirm the changes.

Return to the Microsoft Office 365 DNS verification page and click Verify.

Please note:
DNS changes may take time to propogate, so you may not be able to successfully verify immediately after applying the changes.

Your domain is now ready to use. Click Finish.
