Connect to Your Webspace via SFTP Using FileZilla

For Linux Hosting packages.

Learn how to connect to your Linux Hosting webspace via SFTP.

Before you begin, you will need to download FileZilla and install it.

FileZilla is a free FTP program (also called an FTP client) that allows you to upload, download and change permissions of files you keep in the webspace of your 1&1 package. FTP is insecure in that it transmits your password in plain text. The good news is that FileZilla supports SFTP which you can use to securely transfer your files.

The reference images provided reflect FileZilla 3.5.2 running on a Windows PC.

Step 1
Launch the FileZilla program, either from the Start Menu, Finder, your desktop, or however you normally launch programs. Once the program is open, click File > Site Manager. FileZilla home screen
